Sick.

Been sick all week. It's no good. Haven't been able to stay home and rest though because of course this is the week prior to the holiday moratoriums, which means many many files on Friday. Both me and the other NW dude have been increasingly sick all week, but there's no one to cover us and our 350 files, so we both have to tough it out. Besides, I can't stay home if he's going to keep coming in when he looks worse than I do. But if I still feel even slightly crappy on Monday, I'm calling in.

Blargh.

Solstice on Sunday! Well, for me and Lady, anyway. Celebrating our holiday before we head our separate ways to see our families next week.

One bonus to being faintly proficient at a camera is that some friends'/family's Christmas gifts are suddenly much easier. Specifically, I'm sending Lady's close family prints of some of her and my favorite photos of Lady. I decided to send a bonus! photo of us as well because her family is the sort who'd appreciate that. So, first thing was this finally necessitated the purchase of a tripod, something I'd put off doing for... um... six months? This is going to make some morning shots I'd attempted before finally possible, and, well, shutter speeds slower than 1/30 overall possible.

I dragged Lady out to Gasworks, along with the tripod and the strobe + lightstand at sunset. Unfortunately, there was enough wind to catch the umbrella and try and pull the stand over, so we had to shove it into a corner and down. Later on viewing I realized why I had never tried to have the lightsource coming from below before - it does some weird stuff. So we tried again this morning. The front spoiled my plan for a sunrise, but there was a little snow.

Yes! First snow, actually. Flurries, and very light, but still snow. I hoped it'd snow a little more than it did, but, well. Better this than the storm we had last year, especially since they changed the snow policy at work. Still... I wouldn't mind an inch or two. I love snow - I just wish it didn't make people crazy here.

Christmas is coming up much too fast now. Next weekend is Lady and I's little celebration, since I'll be heading eastward and she'll be heading southwards for the actual holiday. Not that next Sunday/Monday isn't it's own holiday, but, well, family. Then it'll be January and February and March and sometime in there we'll find out where she got into and we can start making some solid plans. I definitely want to go the route of pursuing photography wherever we end up, but I'd also like to supplement that with some education, which is wholly dependent on that "wherever."

And writing. Always writing.
